Description

Left to Right: Harlene Quincy "Harley-Q" Dent, youngest of the Dent siblings. Harley becomes infatuated with The Clown Prince of Crime and joins him as his moll, the maniacal pixie Harley Quinn. After her abusive on-again/off-again relationship with The Joker is switched off for good, Harley reevaluates her life and choices. Harley makes up one third of the Gotham City Sirens, dressed like a Rocky Horror Picture Show cast-off calling herself Harlequinade.

Harlene Quincy Dent is the younger sister of Gotham City's District Attorney Harvard "Harvey" Dent and Deputy Mayor Tallulah "Tulah" Dent. As displayed by her siblings, Harley (as she calls herself) comes from a political family, but growing up her interests never lay in the arena of public service; at least, not in that capacity. From youth, Harley was fascinated with what makes people tick; their innermost thoughts, motivations, phobias, and fixations. She also was obsessed with pop culture and its effects on people’s behavior. Displaying brilliance from an early age, Harley posses a genius I.Q. as well as being naturally adept at gymnastics, her second passion after psychology. By the time she graduated high school, she had a perfect GPA and a full-paid scholarship to Gotham University.

At Gotham U, Harley passed all of her classes with ease; nerdily devouring the information she was being taught. By the time she was ready to graduate with her Bachelor’s degree, she had already gotten a very impressive job as an assistant psychologist at The Elizabeth Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane. One day, while the nurse on call was doing a routine checkup of the patient inmates, The Joker and several other infamous members of Batman’s Rogue’s Gallery orchestrated an escape. Harley, mesmerized in the midst of the mayhem, was cornered by The Joker, who gave her a flower after complimenting her beauty. This had been the first time a male had said anything about her looks, and it resonated deeply with her. Even before the flower spritzed her with a potent mix of chemicals, Harley was instantly smitten.

Immediately after his escape, Harley located The Joker and professed her love to him. The Joker, in his own twisted, insane way, recognized her love, accepted it, and even professed his own… sort of. Harley created the alias Harley Quinn and began dressing like the female counterpart to The Joker.

Though they had many capers together, to say their relationship was complicated is putting it lightly. It was abusive almost from the start; mentally and physically. And so the couple began a complicated dance of on-again/off-again dating… on during the times when Joker would apologize on his knees, off when he would use her as a pawn, raised his hand to her, or otherwise mistreated her— not to mention his many prison stints.
After a solo-mission in which he tried to destroy Batman and his boy ward, Robin, The Joker was presumed dead and went missing and unheard from. Harley shed a tear or two but realized that as long as she was with The Joker, she would never truly be happy, no matter how much she loved him. So, she attempted to return to regular life… despite the undying urge to dress up like a clown and wreak havoc on Gotham.

Harley resisted as long as she could, but soon she was back in her costume, stealing and orchestrating random acts of anarchy. It was during this time that she met up with Poison Ivy. Of course they knew one another as fellow criminals and Batman enemies, but they didn’t really know one another until, on a whim, they decided to team up for a few escapades. The two forged an interesting sisterhood that slowly began to work itself into a romantic relationship.

Eventually, the two came across Catwoman and the three teamed up to watch each others’ backs while working the dark streets of Gotham, dodging Batman and his cadre of caped crusaders while doing so. They called themselves The Gotham City Sirens.
As of now, the three women live together in a loft in the meat-packing district of Gotham. Harley and Pamela are still dating.
